With 18 years experience in government, community and stakeholder relations, Elan is uniquely positioned to provide knowledge and expertise in a wide range of sectors. Elan has most recently served two Alberta Premiers in senior leadership roles as both Acting Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff and Political Advisor to the Office of the Premier. She has extensive private and public sector experience including providing strategic advice and counsel as political advisor to the Minister of Alberta Health and Wellness, Minister of Alberta Children’s Services and Minister of Alberta Municipal Affairs. She has also served as Director of Government Relations at the University of Alberta, Manager of Government Relations in Alberta for Janssen-Ortho, and Women's Health Liaison at Eli Lily Pharmaceuticals Canada. Elan's board Experience includes: Director, Edmonton Police Foundation; and Director, Ed Stelmach Community Foundation.
Elan MacDonald graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. She has volunteered with numerous provincial and federal election and leadership campaigns in a number of executive roles.
Dan has more than 10 years of experience in government and stakeholder relations and is the former Senior Director of the Alberta Competitiveness Council with Alberta Enterprise and Advanced Education. Previously, he served as Chief of Staff and political advisor to the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Minister of Infrastructure, Minister of Finance, and Associate Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation. Dan also served as a Research Officer with the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in the Government Members' Research Branch.
Dan graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Economy and Business. Dan and his wife Robyn live in Sherwood Park with their two daughters.
Jason’s 16 year career with the Alberta Government started in his local MLA’s Constituency Office in Airdrie, where he worked part-time while completing his BA in Political Science at the University of Calgary. Upon graduation, Jason served in the Legislature for 11 years in a variety of roles including Senior Research Officer for the Government Members’ Caucus, Chief of Staff to the Minister of Restructuring and Government Efficiency, Director of Government Members’ Caucus, Chief of Staff to the Minister of Energy, and finally Executive Assistant to Premier Ed Stelmach.
In 2011, Jason joined Alberta's public service and served as Executive Director for International Policy and Strategic Services in the department of International and Intergovernmental Relations, and as Executive Director for Strategy and Business Integration in the department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Brent has 25 years of experience in the healthcare/pharmaceutical industry and most recently was the National Director of Government Affairs and Market Access at Janssen (J&J). Brent led the development of strategies related to product reimbursement, patient advocacy, negotiation (PCPA) and pharmaceutical policy development. Brent was involved in a number of initiatives that included negotiations with provinces, PLA strategy development, life cycle extension and subsequent entry biologics strategy. Brent also led partnerships within the life sciences, establishing strong relationships in the innovation and research community across Canada. Brent ‘s experience also includes leadership roles in management, sales, marketing and coaching.
Brent graduated from the University of Alberta and is an active volunteer in the local community.
Brookes Merritt has more than 10 years of experience in Alberta’s political, public service, and industry spheres that is tailor-made to operate in Alberta’s new landscape.
A former journalist, Brookes worked under the leadership of Brian Mason and Rachel Notley as Director of Communications for the Alberta NDP caucus. During his tenure, Brookes helped Alberta’s NDP become what was widely regarded as the most effective opposition party in the Legislature. Brookes then moved into a social media consultant role for the Government of Alberta’s Executive Council, providing strategic & crisis communications, and reputation and issues management services to government departments. His integrity, professionalism and jovial nature continue to serve strong relationships with members of the Alberta NDP caucus, government departments, industry and media.
Ariel joins the IMPACT team from the University of Alberta, where she recently graduated with a bachelor of commerce degree with distinction. Her major concentration is in Business Economics and Law, and her minor is in Strategic Management and Organization.
Ariel’s experience includes an internship with the Edmonton International Airport’s Marketing division, where she conducted market research and contributed to developing marketing campaigns, as well as managing a nonprofit organization. Ariel has also spent four years at the School of Business appointed to various executive positions on the University of Alberta Marketing Association, and currently sits in an advisory role.
Ada joins us after 10 years with the Government of Alberta. Working in the Department of Health she gained valuable experience in stakeholder relations and government administration.
Ada graduated with a diploma in Office and Records Administration from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. She and her husband are long time residents of Sherwood Park.
